Installation: Traffic Light of Inclusion, Festival Biela Noc 2024
The installation Traffic Light of Inclusion aims not only to entertain and capture attention, but also to encourage viewers to reflect on how people with physical disabilities are perceived in everyday life. It is an attempt to broaden horizons and promote inclusion, where a traffic light featuring a wheelchair user serves as a symbol of equality and of adapting public spaces for everyone.
Traditional traffic-light figures are always shown standing or walking, which ignores the fact that not everyone is able to walk. As a wheelchair user, you are always seated, which is why I decided to create a traffic light with a wheelchair figure.
I want people to understand that public space should be accessible to everyone without distinction. The wheelchair traffic light is just one step toward recognizing the need for inclusive design and a socially conscious approach. This installation is a reminder that we all have the right to be visible and to take an active part in the life of our society.
